In 2004, the Society of North American Goldsmiths
donated an extensive slide archive to the Metal Museum
, the only institution in the United States devoted exclusively to the advancement of the art and craft of fine metalwork. It contains the portfolios of over 330 metalsmiths of national and international significance. The complete 16,000-slide archive is currently being digitized for long-term preservation through grants from the John and Robyn Horn Foundation and an ArtsFirst grant from the First Tennessee Bank Foundation. The Metal Museum is pleased to partner with the American Craft Council Library to make this collection available online. New content will be added on a regular basis.
