About this collection

This collection contains archival documentation of craft conferences, exhibitions, fairs, and other events sponsored or hosted by the American Craft Council in the 1960s. Digitization of materials in this collection was made possible by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA).

Included are materials from the fourth Conference of American Craftsmen at Seattle, WA (1961); the first World Congress of Craftsmen in New York City (1964); and the first ACC craft fairs in Vermont (1966,67,68); as well as exhibitions held at the Museum of Contemporary Crafts, (today known as the Museum of Arts and Design).

The collection also contains images and documentation related to America House (the craft retail shop operated by the ACC from 1940-1970) and from the archive of ACC founder Aileen Osborn Webb.
