About this collection

This collection contains archival documentation of craft conferences, exhibitions, fairs, and other events sponsored or hosted by the American Craft Council in the 1970s. Digitization of materials in this collection was made possible by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA).

Included are materials documenting the ACC's awards programs (initiated in 1975); the first San Francisco craft fair (1976); and the first Baltimore Winter Market (1977); as well as exhibitions held at the Museum of Contemporary Crafts (which became the American Craft Museum in 1979 and today is known as the Museum of Arts and Design).

The collection also contains images and documentation related to the regional chapters of the ACC and from the archive of ACC founder Aileen Osborn Webb and the World Crafts Council.
