Curved Double Stripe:
Though not demonstrated, be sure to trace an "S" line across the fabric to assure proper curve. Use charcoal or water-soluble felt tip pen. pick up fabric in both hands on either side of the curve. Begin making successive pleats across the line of the curve. (This approach is used also for a Straight Double Stripe.) Gather folds tightly. It is important that all the pleats face the top of the knot, not the side.
The original object was scanned as a TIFF file on a Nikon Coolscan 4000 film scanner at approximately 4000 pixels on the long dimension. A 300 ppi JPEG file limited to 1024 pixels on the long dimension was then added to the CONTENTdm database.
