Derived from the apocryphal Old Testament story in the Book of Daniel where Susanna, a prelate's wife, is conspired against by two elders who accuse her of adultery when she refuses to have sex with them. She is condemned on their evidence alone and is only exonerated when Daniel questions the two elders seprately to obtain conflicting evidence. "I was traveling alone in Turkey when I did the drawings for this pieces, selecting the story for its complicated sense of exposure -- physical and legal. For me one of the most interesting elements is the instant and unquestioned collaboration between the two elders." (Grossman)
