Samuel Ayres, Jr., born in 1913, graduated from the Vesper George School of Art, Boston. He was staff designer for five years for Steuben Glass and has also designed for Sylvania, H.H. Scott, Alcoa and Sessions Clocks. In 1950 he founded his own industrial design and consultant firm, Samuel Ayres Associates. He is Chairman of the Industrial Design Department of the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston.
