Leslie Durbin was born in London in 1913, and attended the London County Council Central School of Arts and Crafts. He served as an apprentice to Oraas Ransden, a noted chaser and engraver. Durbin works on his own, maintaining a workshop and executing commissions. In 1943he received the Victorian Order for distinguished work in the Stalingrad Sword.
