cotton twill tape, mylar, metallic guimpe, linen; painted, printed, woven. Image from the American Craft Museum's inaugural exhibition in its new space at 40 West 53rd Street in New York City. The exhibition, titled "Craft Today: Poetry of the Physical" was held October 26, 1986 through March 22, 1987 and featured the work of 286 artists from 36 states. Four areas emerged as the structure for the exhibition: the object as statement, the object made for use, the object as vessel, and, the object as personal adornment.
The original object was scanned as a TIFF file on a Nikon Coolscan 4000 film scanner at approximately 4000 pixels on the long dimension. A 300 ppi JPEG file limited to 1024 pixels on the long dimension was then added to the CONTENTdm database.
