Cotton rag pulp was dyed and then mixed in various proportions with pulp made from cattail leaves cooked in caustic soda and macerated in blender. Red cotton thread was added to the pulp. The pulp was formed western style on a small round wove-mold and couched directly onto an openwork armature of reed, cane and raffia. This was the air-dried.
The original object was scanned as a TIFF file on a Nikon Coolscan 4000 film scanner at approximately 4000 pixels on the long dimension. A 300 ppi JPEG file limited to 1024 pixels on the long dimension was then added to the CONTENTdm database.
