"Japan: Design Today" was curated by Meg Torbert of the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The exhibition was sponsored by the Walker Art Center, JETRO (Japan Export Trade Agency), and the Smithsonian Institution. The objects included in this show were representative of the varied crafts flourishing in Japan at the time. After showing from August 10 until November 20, 1960, the show was circulated by the Smithsonian. The first stop on tour was the Museum of Contemporary Crafts in New York City from December 16, 1960 until February 5, 1961.
