Don Reitz applies finishing decorations to the large urn composed of two separately thrown sections. After pulling and applying three decoratively draped handles, Reitz wedges, rolls, and applies the base of the urn. Next, to reinforce and stabilize the structure, he uses pulled coils to create a series of serpentine feet. Then, after flipping the urn onto its base and placing it back on the wheel, Reitz painstakingly stretches a 6' coil to join against the rim of the urn. Using the wheel again, Reitz works to center, level, and bevel the fresh rim before finishing with the addition of more cascading loops and decorative elements.
